Suburban Monster Oyster petri dish culture
These guys are simply monsters – matching DNA of ostreatus and sapidus 100% this strain of Pleurotus ostreatus was found growing wild on the outskirts of Melbourne and cloned where it appears to maintain its large fruit body size and stature as a stable phenotype in cultivation. The fruit bodies are large more like king oysters than traditional tree oysters/ostreatus.
This species differs from our Blue Feral Oyster which was 98% matching genebank ostreatus (this strain matches 100% despite its unusual characteristics.
Thanks to Benedict Noel for the first photo – we lost our test grow images after a hardware problem.
